As the classic Primus lineup (Les Claypool, Larry LaLonde, and Tim “Herb” Alexander) prepare for their reunion album and tour this fall, Akashic presents a fascinating book of oral history, Primus: Over the Electric Grapevine. Compiled from nearly fifty all-new interviews conducted by journalist/author Greg Prato — including Primus members past and present and many more fellow musicians — this book is full of behind-the-scenes anecdotes and musings on the early beginnings and eventual prominence of the truly one-of-a-kind band.

Interviewees include: Tim Alexander, Trey Anastasio (Phish), Matthew Bellamy (Muse), Les Claypool, Stewart Copeland (The Police), Chuck D (Public Enemy), Kirk Hammett (Metallica), Larry LaLonde, Geddy Lee (Rush), Mickey Melchiondo (Ween), Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine), Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Matt Stone (South Park), Tom Waits, and many more.

Primus: Over the Electric Grapevine is set to release on September 16, 2014. A special preview for this book is available now for iBooks on your Mac and iOS device, or with iTunes on your computer.
