Akashic Authors Featured in Two New York Times Stories on November 10th
The November 10, 2013 issue of the New York Times includes two features involving Akashic authors! “Sidestepping The Digital Demimonde” by Melena Ryzik profiles multiple photographers of underground cultural scenes, including Lucian Perkins, whose photographs of late-1970s DC punk shows make up Hard Art, DC 1979. Photos from Hard Art are featured in the New York Times article, and a slideshow of them can be seen at the Times website.
The November 10th issue of the Times also features a piece entitled “My Caribbean: 5 Vignettes,” which includes writings about Caribbean islands from four Akashic authors: Bernice L. McFadden (writing about Barbados), Edwidge Danticat (Haiti), Colin Channer (Jamaica), and Elizabeth Nunez (Trinidad). You can read the article in its entirety online, or find it in the Travel section of the Sunday Times under the headline “My Own Island.”
