Akashic Remembers James Thompson
It was with great sadness that we learned of the death this past weekend of James Thompson, editor of our forthcoming anthology Helsinki Noir. An American who embraced Finland as his home, Jim displayed all the qualities we look for in a stellar Noir Series editor — an appreciation for noir literature and a love of his (adopted) home city, Helsinki. We are immensely proud of the collection that Jim put together to introduce the world to some of the best contemporary writers in Finland and are sad he will not be here to celebrate the publication this fall of both Akashic’s English language edition and publisher Like’s Finnish language edition. We will, however, raise our shot glasses of Minttu in a toast to Jim, thanking him for all his hard work on this wonderful addition to our Noir Series.
