Announcing Garbage autobiography This Is the Noise That Keeps Me Awake
Forthcoming in 2017 is This Is the Noise That Keeps Me Awake, an autobiography from the international best-selling alternative rock band Garbage, written with former Rolling Stone journalist Jason Cohen.
World famous for their eclectic, original style, Garbage has enjoyed critical and commercial success for more than twenty years. The band’s debut self-titled album sold well over four million copies while their follow up album Version 2.0 garnered multiple Grammy Award nominations. Since their 1994 inception, Garbage has gone on to sell millions of records worldwide, including 2016’s critically acclaimed Strange Little Birds.
Now, for the first time, the four band members (Shirley Manson, Duke Erikson, Steve Marker, and Butch Vig) tell the story of their incredible journey in their own words. This beautiful full-color coffee-table book examines how Garbage make their music, the toll this takes and how the band has survived for this long. It includes never-before-seen photographs of the band—live shots, portraits, and candid, behind-the-scenes images—as well as pieces written by each of the four band members.
Shirley Manson says, “We decided it was time for our fans to hear directly from us and get a look into our official archives, which at this point is immense and somewhat overwhelming.”
World rights to This Is the Noise That Keeps Me Awake, named for a lyric from one of Garbage’s best-known singles, “Push It,” were sold to Akashic Books by Laura Macdougall at Tibor Jones & Associates. Akashic will publish the book on July 4, 2017.
