Randall Robinson Remembers Nelson Mandela (Videos)
Randall Robinson, professor, political activist, and author of Makeda and other works, founded TransAfrica in 1977 as well as the Free South Africa Movement in 1984. In the 1970s and 1980s, Robinson took part in multiple political protests, advocating against South African apartheid; for US trade sanctions against apartheid South Africa; and for the release of Nelson Mandela from prison. With Mandela’s recent passing, The CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley, Face the Nation with Bob Schieffer, and Democracy Now! invited Robinson to speak about his fight for Nelson’s freedom as well as his interactions with the former president of South Africa.
